Problem: What will happen if i put the balloon and the bottle in the hot and cold water?

Research: Hot air rises
cold air sinks

Hypothesis:If i put the balloon in the hot water, then the baloon will fill with hot air and if i put it in cold watter, it would shrivel up.

Materials: Safety goggles, Balloon, Plastic bottle, Warm water, Cold water

Procedure:

1.) Stretch the opening of the balloon over the neck of the bottle.
2.) Observe the balloon at room temperature. Record observations.
3.) Place the bottle with the balloon in the warm water for about 30 seconds.
4.) Observe the balloon again and record any changes you see in the balloon.

5.) Remove the bottle and balloon from the warm water and quickly place it in the cold
water for about 30 seconds (or until it cools).
6.) Observe the balloon and record any changes you see in the ballon.

Results:

Water Temperature
Prediction
Description of the Balloon
Room Temperature
it will stay the same
the balloon stayed the same
Warm
the balloon will fill with air
it filled with air
it took up more space
Cold
the balloon will sink
the balloon took up less space

Conclusion:
My conculion was corect. i stated that if i put the bottle and the balloon in the hot water, then the balloon will fill up with hot air . If i put it in cold water, it would shrivel up. my results showed that if it was room temp. it would stay the sames and if it was in hot water it would blow the balloon up. And when it was in cold water,it shriveled up. That concudes that my hypothisis was correct.
